直面全球化與自由貿易的未來–青年的角色 The Future of Globalization and Free Trade — Role of the Youth
Mr. Albert Chuang Ka Pun
Chairman of the Y.Elites Association
On behalf of the Y.Elites Association and on my behalf, I welcome you all to the 2017 Boao Youth Forum for Asia (Hong Kong). Since its inauguration in
2009, the Boao Youth Forum (Hong Kong) has become one of the most influential international forums. Time flies and this is the sixth time the forum
has been held in Hong Kong by the Y.Elites Association and the Boao Forum for Asia. Every year, the forum has invited world-renowned financial
and political gurus and intellectuals to share their valuable insights on financial and cultural industries as well as social sustainable development, and
explore the risks and challenges youth and Asia face.
The keyword of the first forum was “China”, the second forum was “Asia”, the third forum was “Youth”, the forth forum was “Creativity and
Innovation” and the fifth forum was “Restructuring and Vision” . I believe the keyword for the 2017 forum should be “Globalization” and our theme
is “The Future of Globalization and Free Trade – The Role of Youth”
In these ever-changing times, with mushroom growth in technological breakthrough, we envisage traditional business models and working styles
to be replaced with new forms. The future is riddled with infinite combinations and possibilities. An established international metropolis, Hong Kong
has been a forerunner of development. It is the collective efforts of Hong Kong youths that is crucial in creating the city’s new growth impetus and
coping with sudden changes. To stay adaptive in an evolution accompanied with new technology, or even innovate our life with unprecedented
technological ideas, Hong Kong will only thrive innovatively in a more sustainable manner with our youths adapt the mindset to think outside the
box and dare to try.
2017 is the 20th Anniversary of the HKSAR and our 2017 Boao Youth Forum for Asia is glad to be one of the celebration events. Hong Kong is a
well-recongized metropolitan and the window of China facing the world. In this special moment, it is meaningful to discuss the role of youth under
globalization and free trade together.
At this point, I would like to thank our partners for holding the Forum, all leaders, officiating guests, distinguished guests, speakers and sponsors; your
support has been critical to its success. Our appreciation also goes out to all organizations, especially the Hong Kong SAR Government, the Liaison
Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the HKSAR etc. for their
generous support.
A sincere thank you to Ms. Diana Chen being our Organizing Committee Chairman again this year. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to
supporting organizations including exclusive partner Mingxi Charity Foundation; sponsors Sino Group, DC Foundation and The Chinese Manufacturers’
Association of Hong Kong, Geely Automobile Holdings Limited; joint organizers Hong Kong United Youth Association, Global Group, Dynamic Youth
of Huizhou; co-organizers Gale Well Group, Hua Jing Society, The Hong Kong Overseas Chinese General Association and etc.
Furthermore, I would also like to thank Mr Zhou Wenzhong, the secretary-general of the Boao Forum for Asia, for your invaluable advice and
guidance as well as efforts of our organizing committee members. Moreover, I wish to thank all of you for taking the time to participate in this Forum.
We have an interesting and exiting programme lined up for you. I wish the 2017 Boao Youth Forum for Asia (Hong Kong) a great success and
