Jointly initiated by 26 Asian countries and inaugurated on 27th February, 2001, BFA is the most prestigious and premier forum for leaders in government, business and academia in Asia and other continents to share visions on the most pressing issues with the aim to promote economic integration in this dynamic region. In 2009, The Youth Elites Association was honoured to partner with BFA to jointly organize the first youth forum outside of the annual conference in Hong Kong. Following last year’s success, 2010 Boao Youth Forum (Hong Kong) will once again welcome all leaders from professional and youth organizations, as well as professors, educators and students from universities and tertiary school to learn inspirational suggestions as to how Asia, in particular the vast Asian youth community, can embrace new opportunities and face challenges from the aspects of finance, culture industries and sustainable growth.

Dignitaries attending the opening ceremony of the Forum include Mr. Donald TSANG, Chief Executive of HKSAR; Mr. Peng Qinghua, Director, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in HKSAR; Mr. Lü Xinhua, The Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in HKSAR, and Mr. Zhou Wenzhong, Secretary General of Boao Forum for Asia.

Republic of Korea and Mr. Jin Liqun, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of China Investment Corporation. Morgan Chase; Dr. Rebecca Lee, Founder of the Polar Museum Foundation; renowned actor and film maker Mr. Stephen Chow; Mr. Abhimanyu Singh, Director, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Office in Beijing; Professor Zhou Wenzhang, Vice President of the China National School of Administration; Professor Stephen Yan Leung Cheung, Dean and Chair Professor of Finance of Hong Kong Baptist University School of Business; and Mr. Norman Chan, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. With such an impressive line-up of elite speakers, 2010 Boao Youth Forum (Hong Kong) is a rare occasion truly not to be missed.

Mr. Jaime Sze, Consultant of the 2010 BOAO Youth Forum (Hong Kong) Organizing Committee and Founding Chairman of The Y.Elites Association, stated: “We experienced a phenomenal success from last year, garnering impassioned support from twelve senior government officials including members of Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, State Councillor Liu Yandong and Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang. We were also graced with the presences of many CEO’s from Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, not to mention over 1,000 prominent corporate delegates, youth leaders, university and tertiary school educators and students. We explored together the implications of the unprecedented financial crisis on the political, economic and cultural landscapes of China. For this year, we are determined to outdo ourselves, and to make 2010 BOAO Youth Forum (Hong Kong) a resounding success.”

Mr. Frank Pak, Chairman of The Y.Elites Association, added: “We are honored to once again be the joint organiser of the 2010 BOAO Youth Forum (Hong Kong) with Boao Forum for Asia. The local and international luminaries will speak on important topics such as sustainable development, the culture industry, financial markets and economic development in Asia in the post-crisis period. There is no doubt that their insights will enlighten the Forum’s audiences.

After the global financial crisis in 2008, the economic growth model of different countries underwent major changes, resulting in structural adjustments in many industries. Other initiatives included establishing stability and orderly supply for currency, and enhancing the ability for emerging markets and developing countries to cope with financial risks. In the meanwhile, Program of Action for Sustainable Development in China in the Early 21st Centurystated key objectives for China to build its capacity for sustainable development.

The factors included economic restructuring, effective control of population aggregate, improvement in the ecological environment and increased efficiency in utilization of resources, together resulting in harmony between man and nature. Consequently, low carbon and innovative industries became highlights for the future. As a relevant response, Ms. Ni Mu, Chairwoman of the 2010 BOAO Youth Forum (Hong Kong) Organizing Committee, stated: “Faced with the challenges of the post-crisis era, the Asian region should reflect on the future industry structure. These structures, as the trend dictates, will have emphasis towards low-carbon, sustainable development and knowledge content. Therefore, the forum specifically chose the topics ‘Finance’, ‘Sustainable Development’ and ‘Cultural Industry’ as key topics of the forum."
