Boao Forum For Asia (BFA) is a non-government, non-profit international organization. Initiated in 1998 by Fidel V. Ramos, former President of the Philippines, Bob Hawke, former Prime Minister of Australia, and Morihiro Hosokawa, former Prime Minister of Japan, Boao Forum for Asia was launched by 29 Initial Countries in the Asia Pacific and inaugurated on February 27, 2001.
The BFA is focused on Asia with a global vision. As the leading dialogue platform for Asian and emerging economies, the BFA is committed to facilitating economic integration in Asia and common development in the Asia Pacific region. BFA has now grown into an open and inclusive forum with global influence.
The Annual Conference of the BFA has been held in spring in Boao, Hainan, PRC since 2002. It is a prominent annual gathering of government leaders, business elites, leading experts and scholars as well as media leaders, who convene together to explore pressing issues and cooperation opportunities.
Other than its annual conferences in Boao China, BFA holds themed conferences with the collaboration of its global partners throughout the world on an ad hoc basis. Since 2003, the BFA has hold themed conferences at the following cities: Tokyo,Kyoto, Yokohoma, Mumbai, Bali, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Astana, Dubai, Hong Kong, Macao, Bangkok, Tehran, Colombo, Dhaka, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Paris, London, St. Petersburg, Seattle, Chicago, etc.
