Mr. Wu Hailong
Mr. Wu was born in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in February 1955 and is a University graduate. In 1974-1978, he studied at the Beijing Foreign Studies University. From 1978 to 1981, he was a Staff member of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). In 1981-1986 he was Attaché and Third Secretary of the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). In 1986-1988, he worked as the Third Secretary, and later the Second Secretary, of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences, MFA. From 1988 to 1992, he was the Second Secretary, and later the First Secretary, of the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations. In 1992-1996, he worked as the First Secretary, and later the Deputy Director, of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences, MFA. He was the Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in the State of Israel from 1996 to 1999, and in 1999-2001 he was the Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences, MFA. In 2001-2004, he was the Deputy Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. In 2004-2006, he was the Permanent Representative, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna, Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). In 2006-2009, he worked as the Director-General, Department of International Organizations and Conferences, MFA. From 2009 to the present, he is the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs.
