Mr. Henry Tang is a Standing Committee Member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Chairman of the Board of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA), the Chairman of Friends of Hong Kong Association, the Chairman of Federation of Hong Kong Jiangsu Community Organizations and the Chairman of Shanghai Tang Junyuan Education Foundation. Before being the Chief Secretary from 2007 to 2011, Mr. Tang had served as Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology and Financial Secretary of the HKSAR.

Mr. Tang was a member of Executive Council from 1997 to 2011.  He was also a member of the Legislative Council and Provisional Legislative Council from 1991 to 1998.  Mr. Tang was the Chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries from 1995 to 2001. He was named Global Leader for Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum in 1993 and won the Young Industrialist of Hong Kong award in 1989. Mr. Tang had also served on various government boards and public bodies, including but not limited to the Trade Development Council, Town Planning Board, University Grants Committee and the Council of the City University of Hong Kong.
