Jim Lai is Vice President of Tencent, Head of Tencent Financial Technology and Dean of Tencent Financial Academy. He is also awarded as Winner of The Leadership Achievement Awards at 2017 Asian Banker.

Mr. Lai joined Tencent in 2009, making great contribution in building up Tencent payment infrastructure and Tencent financial open ecosystem. The team led by Jim successfully developed mobile payment applications with users nationwide- WeChat Red Envelop and QQ Red Envelop, and financial applications Li Cai Tong and Tencent Securities. Equally, their popularity accelerate Tencent’s innovation on the leading edge of finance, such as block chain and big data credit.

Prior to Tencent, Jim assumed investment manager positions with Apax Partners PE in the UK and Lehman Brother's Investment Bank in the US, having rich experience in investment bank, private placement and finance.

Lai holds both an MS bachelor's degree and a master's degree in economics from MIT, as well as an MBA degree from Harvard Business School.
